Siddharth Residence, Coimbatore

Located in the city of Coimbatore, the Siddharth Residence is a seven-bedroom family home designed as a calm and private retreat. The house brings together comfort and luxury while supporting both formal gatherings and everyday family life. It stays closely connected to natural light, greenery, and carefully chosen materials.

The entrance is thoughtfully planned. A tall stone-finished door opens into a shaded vestibule that leads to the formal living room and home theatre, spaces meant for hosting guests and celebrations. Beyond this, the house opens to its main feature, a double-height courtyard running across the width of the home. Perforated walls allow soft light and air to enter while maintaining privacy. At the centre of the courtyard is a tropical garden with a water feature flowing into a koi pond that stretches across the width of the house, becoming a shared visual focus for the family. A hexagonal skylight above creates changing patterns of light through the day.

The formal living room is positioned between two landscaped areas, opening to the outdoor garden on one side and the inner courtyard on the other. A brick-red Hey concrete feature wall adds warmth to the otherwise muted palette. At the heart of the house is the informal living area, a large open space where the family comes together daily to relax, talk, and spend time with one another. This area connects easily to the dining space, kitchens, bedrooms, and staircase, making it the social centre of the home.

A sculptural staircase with an acid etched golden stone finish rises beside a stone-clad wall and a tall glass façade that brings in gentle western light. Small openings in the steps allow daylight to filter in later in the day. Dark grey and black interiors are balanced with gold accents, custom lighting, and tree-inspired art pieces. A small moss garden near the staircase adds a quiet moment of calm within the shared spaces.

Each of the seven bedrooms is designed as a personal suite, reflecting the individual tastes and needs of each family member through colours, textures, and materials.

Hexagonal forms appear subtly across the house, from the courtyard skylight to custom doors that preserve the client’s mother’s sarees within glass panels, carrying memories into the home. The 13-foot-high entrance door, finished in stone and paired with a teak wood handle sourced from the family’s farm, adds a personal and emotional touch.

Overall, the home unfolds as a refined, inward-looking space that values craftsmanship, light, and family living.
